Dull, boring and disappointing! All these things could describe the monarch's day, perfectly! He had half expected a large amount of people would want to take up the job of his right hand man...or woman as he had offered a large wage for the individual who he would decide to hire. Though even a line of this length bewildered him so.
Now his highness was a short tempered, plump, young and azure penguin. He wore a royal red robe, a waist band and a hat, which bared both his pompom and crown. His majesty, King Dedede, had been sitting through interviews all day long and he had found them all...tiresome! He was almost falling asleep! Dedede was well aware that he was in Cappy town but he desired to see somebody a little different compared to these dull cappies! Thankfully, Dedede had Waddledoo beside him to keep him entertained, even if that was just providing his majesty with a coloured crayon and paper so he could draw insulting pictures of who he was interviewing.
Waddledoo was a pastel orange being with one large eye that took up the majority of his spherical body. He was in charge of Dedede's waddledee's, a group that binocular soldiers. Alas, he had been asked to help Dedede with the interviews and as usual, he had to do what he was told, even if he was asked to go out his comfort zone and be cruel to the hopeful individuals that entered King Dedede's castle.
Whilst Waddledoo was reluctant to be harsh to the cappies during their interviews, Dedede, however, wasn't so reluctant. He had went out of his way to make it almost impossible for anyone to go through their interview with ease. The king's methods may have been unfair but it definitely had given him an idea of what to look for; someone who stood out from the crowd and above all, someone who was easy to torment, who would react, heavily, to his harsh treatment.
After countless amounts of hours, literally, there was no hope that he could even count that high, someone unusual entered the throne room. It took a few minutes for the king, who had almost collapsed from fatigue, to notice the rather fascinating figure. "Eh?" The king's blue diamonds set to focus on the approaching being.
A thin but large snail, with a leaf green shell, lavender skin and a goatee. But the feature that stood out beyond anything else was a pair of intelligent yet soft emerald green eyes on the stranger's storks. He was young, not much older than the tyrant and had been the only individual that wasn't a dumb old cappy that Dedede had interviewed all day! Upon noticing such an abnormally unusual being, the portly penguin lent forward, on the very edge of his throne. He way watched as the creature handed Waddledoo a slip of paper...at least that's what he thought it was. Dedede took note of this and would check it out later.
The monarch smirked upon noticing the organism's timid behaviour. Honestly, he was shaking like a skittish adolescent on their first day of school. Fearful of what was to come."Yo!" The king greeted.
When the snail spoke up, finally, the male gave him the attention he wanted. Though Dedede quickly found himself distracted by the urge to entertain himself. He supposed he would just have to victimize this 'Escargoon'...no, no wait that wasn't his name, was it? Nah, it was 'Escurragate',...right? Ah, whatever! He didn't really care.
The plump being lent in closer to the timid other, perched on the very edge of the throne. "What're ya doing here, boy? What makes ya think ya are worthy enough to be my right hand man,...zoi?" The tyrant snickered when he got a reaction.
"Uh-oh, your majesty, he has top grades in everything!" Waddledoo informed, trying to show Dedede the grade sheet that Escargoon had given him.
"What's that?" Dedede snatched the sheet, despite Waddledoo's explanation, he hadn't the slightest clue as to how these 'grades' were important. "Ah, ya don't need this baloney to get a job here, zoi!" The male informed to the overgrown snail, scrunching up the sheet and tossing it behind him, not knowing the seriousness of his actions. Not like he would care if he did. The red clad brute did notice the shelled slug's large reaction. This caused him to laugh, hysterically. Why was these 'grades' so important to him?...Why was he so upset? Ah, who cares? The point was; this guy seemed like he'd be easy to torment and was already fretful of his majesty, this was what he had been looking for!
Dedede kept eye contact with the latter, arising from his throne, "get here!" He bellowed in an attempt to strike fear into the snail. "I like ya, Escar--" Damn the stars! What was his name again? "--Escarloon!"-- Yeah, that'll do. "Ya are a real laugh, ya know that?" He hooked Escargoon into a rough pull and forced the other to his side, almost throwing him to the floor."I'm hiring ya!"
Waddledoo almost chocked upon hearing that his highness was going to hire Escargoon. There was so many more people to interview yet! "But sire there's,...there's a whole two miles of people out there that are waiting for their chance!"
"Then get rid of them! I ain't gonna settle for no crappy cappy, zoi! I'm happy to have this guy under my wing." After all he'd rather employ some stranger than any of those cappies in line. "While ya do that tell the waddledee's to bring Escarbroom's stuff up to his room, zoi!"
"Yes, your highness! Right away!"
"Come on, Escargo!" The monarch elevated the snail onto the back of his throne, whilst he perched himself upon the seat. "I'll show ya where ya room is." The king pressed a button upon his throne which caused it to move backwards to the wall and then elevate to the floor where Escargoon's new room awaited him. "Hold on!"
